Hyperbole of Suffering
Suffering is expressed in many ways. But words do not always express the depth of what someone is experiencing. The Book of Job uses hyperbole in poetry to try to express some of this. This blog, and the book linked to it, shares findings from a palliative care physician’s experience on addressing the ultimate question behind suffering.

Suffering has meaning
Why are we fearful of suffering? Is suffering something to be avoided at all costs? Is there any purpose or meaning in suffering? Can suffering be avoided? Is the question not so much “why” we suffer, as “how” we suffer and “who” is with us during our suffering? Is affliction essential? Is adversity essential?

Like a barred gate, our words can open or lock the door to one’s heart.
