When There Is Nothing to Say….

From Darkness to Light

From Darkness to Light

(RSV) Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in the dark, utter in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops.

There are times in one’s life when you do not sense God’s presence with you. And for one who blogs, it is like you have nothing to say…. Hence the silence from me since the first week of January.

And yet, He is there.

In spite of this “drought” or this “desert”, one faithfully reads God’s Word, meditates upon it, and awaits His speaking to you to give you direction and guidance.

During this time of meditation, I read from Oswald Chalmers, “My Utmost for His Highest”. It was on Valentines’ Day. The title of his passage is “The Discipline of Heeding” and the verse was the verse from Matthew quoted above.

I quote some of this devotional:

At times God puts us through the discipline of darkness to teach us to heed Him. Song birds are taught to sing in the dark, and we are put into the shadow of God’s hand until we learn to hear Him. “What I tell you in darkness” - watch where God puts you into darkness, and when you are there keep your mouth shut…

At this time, I find myself just listening and so I am keeping my mouth shut…

“.. Then remain quiet. I you open your mouth in the dark, you will talk in the wrong mood: darkness is the time to listen.”

I remain Yours Lord. I sit and listen.

“When you are in the dark, listen, and God will give you a very precious message for someone else when you get into the light”

May that be so. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be life giving to someone who is longing to see God. That is my life’s desire.

That is what I desire for each and every one of you.

Amen — “may it be so.”
